Democrats are weak, cowards and SELFISH! Meeks should have bowed out of the election, and gave it to Crist! There are NOT enough Blacks in Florida to secure him the Senate seat. Like Nadar, MEEKS screwed up royally! He RATHER see the DEMS weakened, than to the right STRAGETIC thing to HELP and SAVE America!

I KNOW you’re PROUD of yourself MEEKS, if you could not have it, you made CERTAIN RUBIO got it! How freaking SELFISH OF YOU! It’s WHY Dem’s will NEVER EVER be successful as the Republicans! There are important times when we should play ball like the Repukes, and get in LOCK STEP!

  2. Leila says:

Ridiculous! If anyone should have not been in there it was Crist without the support of a party. He played both sides of the fence and I wouldn’t doubt if it was not done to secure the Republican victory. Democrats are weak in FL only because people with a higher IQ vote Democrat. I mean let’s face it, FL is a mess and people just keep electing the same people to office.
Nobi what did Crist do that was so wonderful you wanted him in AGAIN?
I shall never understand the mentality of the Florida voter.

  3. hahahawhat says:

@nobi So the only people who would vote for Meeks are black? You think the only people who voted for Obama were black too?

I’m also not happy with a R win when a single opponent could have taken the coupled 50%, but instead of getting pissed at Meeks, who had every right to run as do any other candidate, why don’t you just get pissed that people voted for Rubio in the first place? A lot of people hated Crist too, why not get mad at him? Seriously, re-evaluate your target for blame and focus it on Rubio’s election and what you’re going to do during his term.

  4. Eric says:

    You are absolutely right!

  5. disappointed says:

Nobi, I found your comments obnoxious, racist, and offensive as one who has been voting mostly Democrat for the last decade (the Republican vote was for a favorite teacher in a local election). I agree with your theory that if Meeks had dropped out, Crist might have won, but there is no proof that everyone who would have voted for Meeks would have voted for Crist had he not been in the race. There might have been several thousand that would not have voted at all if Meeks was not on the ticket. Some Democrats might still have looked at Crist as a Republican and not have voted at all. Did Meek have a chance to win? Not really. Crist was the only one that could have taken that Republican Senate Seat, especially with all the Tea Party atmosphere in northern Florida. Check your rage and your CAPS before representing any party in the future, please.

  6. stick says:

    @nobi,

I tend to agree with some of your initial statements, but there are a few “Repukes” as you call them who did the same sort of thing with write-in campaigns after losing the primary. Pretty sad. Lockstep? Please! There’s far more diversity of opinion and voting amongst Republicans than Democrats. How come if Democrates vote as a block they “stand in solidarity”, but if Republicans do the same they “march in lockstep” (not your words, I know, just fleshing out the Nazi referrence). Pardon me, but your hypocrisy is showing.

  7. Eyemnotfree says:

I vote for the extermination of the Florida government. They are all criminals and enemies to the constitution.

God is a piece of feces

  8. Ron says:

You left wing BOZOS, what have the D’s done for anyone lately.

  9. Aidsburger says:

I’m digging the random capitalization of words Nobi. I think I’m going to start shouting random words in my everyday speech. You inspire me.

  10. Travis says:

I like Leila comment; “Democrats are weak in FL only because people with a higher IQ vote Democrat.” Well I know I voted Republican, I know I am educated, but I guess when you vote Republican you just a dumb hick farm boy. Well my dumb hick low IQ ass voted and we won.

  11. bubba army says:

    Bubba army. Bubba army.

  12. Roy says:

Hey I agree with Travis but what do I know being another dumb country boy – O that’s right we won! Well out to feed the chickens, catch you all later!

  13. Robbie says:

This should not have come down to this. It’s unfortunate that people who feel Meek should have stepped aside for Crist are either perceived as being racist or supporting racism. I’m not going to get into that discussion. All I know is that with two, essentially democratic, candidates there was no chance to defeat Rubio and Rubio had to be laughing about this all the way to the election victory. If Crist would have stepped down or aside, Meek could not have beaten Rubio. In reality, at least half of Crist’s supporters would have voted for Rubio. His supporters, lest we forget, are allegedly non-affiliated voters. If, on the other hand, Meek had stepped down or aside 100% of his supporters would either have not voted or voted for Crist which means that the only logical thing to do, and assuming any politician would act logically, would have been to step aside and hope Crist could win. I honestly believe if either Crist or Meek had stepped aside it would have been closer but Rubio still would have won, and probably easily. I would like to see Meek and Crist compromise but, more importantly, I would like to see the day when both parties act in the interests of all americans and not for a marginal vocal minority. If that happens we may get out of the mess and if not I’m all for a benevolent dictator or king appointed by devine succession.

  14. ed says:

Nobi the obvious racist – lost in space.
If you have a comment, at least have an intelligent one.

Personally, I would hope that this election is only the beginning of meaningful change. We may now have the basics in place to force enforcement of our constitution. Hopefully, now we will be able to balance budgets, change immigration laws, and well, start improvement of our lives. We would never be able to do this with entitlement programs draining our resources.
I wish our new government the best of luck.

  15. The game says:

Florida is too racist on both sides to get anywhere and anything done. It will never progress!

  16. Michelle says:

I think it is a very foolish thing to say, Leila, that dumb people vote Republican. Have you not been watching what is going on in Washington? The democrats are flushing our country down the toilet. I don’t think you can find a perfect politician by far but I tend to vote for people with standards.
Your statement also has no claim because of people like Nobi. He spat out whatever he was thinking at the time and his comment seemed, to me, very stupid. So think before you speak. Voting has nothing to do with a higher IQ. It is about what the voter believes and who he believes will serve his country best.

  17. imrichbitch says:

Thank god the republicans took the house. I was so worried that I would have to adjust my stock portfolio to cover the taxes. Its about time we realize that its about us people with money. Its not my fault that i am white handsome and rich. Its your fault for being poor. Get rich and you wont have to worry as much. Good luck….tax breaks for the rich coming up………BINGO.

  18. Maverick says:

Hey guys, i think you all have great points. Christ is and has been very flexible and that is why he changed his party and as for Meek i think it is plausible to say that he didn’t have the pull that would push him into office this election. I personally would have dropped out and let Christ take the running. I think it is not about a party but some one that is for the people. Now, if you do look at party affiliates then maybe Christ should have backed out but then again i feel that the only reason Christ received as many votes as he did was only because some of the american people are tired of the “party thing” and just want some one that is going to represent the people. Now, i know that changing your party to independent doesn’t mean that ‘Leila’ but Christ had pull that Meek didn’t have. Either way, lets not complain about what is going on but try to make the people we have do what they are suppose to do and that is represent the people! Thank you and Good day to all.

  19. Steve says:

Leila’s comment “Democrats are weak in FL only because people with a higher IQ vote Democrat.” Let’s see here, blue collar labor unions, 3rd and 4th generation welfare families, everyone looking for a handout with a sense of entitlement, yada…yada…yada. Yep, definitely higher IQ every one. You really showed your higher IQ with your very (not!)salient point.

  20. Lisa says:

I am a staunch Democrat, and I believe Christ was the best candidate because he is a moderate who not only considers the merits of every decision but who listens to his constituents. Rubio will not deviate from the most conservative end of his party’s line, and Meeks never really stood a chance.

I truly fear for Florida’s future if Scott pulls off the race for Governor. He’s a crook and should never have been allowed to run.

And by the way, what’s with all the president-bashing??? You can disagree with the policies of the current administration without making personal attacks on the character and qualifications of the person who holds the position, who by the way, was elected in part with Florida’s electoral votes! All this accomplishes is to teach our children to disrespect the office and the democratic process. Throughout W’s 8 years in office, I taught my children to take apart the policies on their merits or lack thereof, but to respect the good decisions and the fact that the person holding the office was democratically elected to that office. If you’re unhappy, exercise your constitutional right and responsibility to have your voice heard and VOTE!

  21. mark s. says:

If you had a car and let your friend borrow it, and minutes later they called and say ” the cars’ been totaled”. And in no way help as you struggle to raise money to get a new car, when you do buy the new car, if that same friend asks to borrow it again, will you let them? My guess would be no, simple because you’ve lost trust and respect in them. So after R stood by and accepted tax cuts, and legislator that put the country in debt, why would we give them the keys back to the country? One thing I do respect about the R is that, dumb candidate or not you guys stand behind your chosen pricks.

  22. ZigHeil! says:

black people are the only reason why Obama won, because of their ignorance they figured they would go out and vote for the first time in their life because they saw “a black man” running and thats not racist its the cold hard truth…
    and @travis….
well i voted republican and my IQ is pretty damn high and we beat that ass yesterday!! so yea suck it leila!

  23. Holly says:

The votes in Florida were a direct result of the actions in Washington. I had no doubt that the republicans would take the state of Florida. I saw it coming. I don’t feel that Obama has done enough to show Americans that Democrats deserve total power. Since Obama has been in office, Florida education has gone to the pits and businesses are failing everyday. No need for name calling, just call it as it is. The democrats don’t deserve Florida.

  24. SmartVoter says:

OH Please. High IQ people in FL??? Most of the mouth breathing droolers are Democrats, they want everything handed to them instead of working for it. That’s why we have Obama as president. People don’t want to work for anything, they expect the “gobment” to hand it to them. Sooner or later the republicans and working folks are going to run out of money, then what will the Dems do?

  25. Ex bubba army says:

F*ck that flip-flopper bubba. I used to listen to him till he turned into an idiot. Anyways glad we got all of the democrats running home with their tails between their legs

  26. spectral says:

    Hey “disappointed”:

You are a piece of marxist trash!
We don’t want your gun grabbing communist nigger loving ways in this country!
Oh and btw: I’m proud to be racist, that’s right, fuck niggers

  27. lilllie says:

Our democratic form of governmet allows you to vote as you wish. Freedom of speech allows you to make the angry comments you all seem to spew. Do any of you appreciate what we have and how we should cherish it?
This is how a democracy works. It is not always perfect but the majority rules. Get over it. Use your efforts and your rhetoric for positive efforts. If you aren’t happy, there will be another election in 2 years. That is the beauty of our system!

  28. gemeg says:

good lord — reading this string, I’m a truly scared that it’s legal for these people to procreate.

  29. Trint says:

People with a Higher IQ vote Democrat. You obviously vote Democrat. Don’t break your arm patting yourself on the back genius. News flash. 18 year old kids, minorities, immigrants who can’t speak English, people on welfare, people who smoke pot all day, people on unemployment for 2 years, Brittany Spears, Paris Hilton, and snide city folk who think they are smarter than every one else vote Democrat. Business owners, people with jobs, the military, and Christians vote Republican. Which group do you belong to genius?

  30. arronarcher says:

    @ Author (Ryan Zenti):

As a Florida Democrat, I disagree that the fact that Independent Charlie Crist received more votes than Democrat Kendrick Meek shows the electorate’s questioning of the Democratic leadership in the White House. I voted for Meek in the primary but, even then, I did not feel that he was an electable opponent in a general election against Republican Marco Rubio… just the best option on a weak Democratic primary ballot. Crist’s recent leftward migration and support for the stimulus bill can be viewed as either political opportunism and selfish ambition to ascend the political ladder by any means necessary (as he has long been accused of) or moderate, pragmatic action for the good of the people of Florida. I (and many of my fellow Florida Democrats) hoped for the latter and took a chance on him, knowing that he had a better chance of defeating Rubio than Meek did. As to whether Meek was asked to or should have dropped out of the race, I do not believe that it would have made a difference. Many of the Meek voters would have voted for Crist but many would not have felt compelled to vote at all and I suspect that the Republican would have won anyway (albeit by a small margin as in the expected results of our gubernatorial race). My point is that, while some Florida voters do not support or believe in the Democratic leadership in the White House, many of us do and our votes for the Independent, Charlie Crist, reflect a desire to support that leadership by taking our best shot to defeat Rubio, who vehemently opposes it.

  31. iHATEtheYOUall says:

I didn’t vote cause I hate name calling and he said she said sh!t. i like thruth. i hate the tea party because its backed by racist ignorant hypocrites that use the system to get their little motor scooter paid in full by medicare, but they dont like the fact that welfare pays for food for poor families. i dont agree with how some REPs and DEMs just use their power to their own gain. I dislike the fact that people in office complain about over spending but wont take a pay cut, or wont vote to increase taxes for companies that give them gifts and pay for their dinners and drinks. Do they not realize that they are part of the proplem, that they vote on things that can trickle into a huge problem, or the fact that the propblems we have now are from years of “I can fix this if you vote for me” and then when they get their seat its “hmm thats going to effect my wallet”. they say they want to help with jobs yet they vote against things that will help. but i do agree that the welfare system is being used by lazy f*cks that dont look for jobs and trade their food stamps for drugs instead of for their kids. They should drug test people on welfare. They should have people who are collecting unemployment show that their searching for jobs. They should not allow companies to fire experienced workers to hire cheaper unexperienced workers. I’m am a AMERICAN an I hate my Government and all of you should too. No one can save us.

  32. USN Chief says:

    Leila,

I’m a minority with a high IQ and MS from a reputable university but I voted Republican. So I guess your statement regarding the IQ does not apply to me. I don’t understand why you have to resort to name-calling. It is beneath a person with a high IQ. There are skeletons in everyone’s closets, including your beloved Democrats! It comes down to people’s beliefs and values. If you don’t like what you see in Florida, move to California or New York.

  33. William Cutty says:

either way republican democrat its all an illusion both parties are criminals. but what i hate the most is how republicans forgot that they had power of the house for the last 8 years and how they single handedly destroyed this country. its easier to destroy then build its been 2 and a half years and u expect 8 years of damage to be fixed in 2??? we should give the same opportunity to fix it as we have to destroy it. cant wait to see the republicans fall on their face, what we need is an uprising, and bring the power back to the streets where the people live!!! the last time this country was in good shape a democrat named clinton was in office.

  34. Jamey says:

Sour grapes for all you Dem’s!!!! You lost suck it up! You had the reins and let it get away, Rubio is true conservitive and will vote that way. We need to ax the president next, he is spending money like a drunkin sailor!!!! I feel bad insulting a sailor saying that! Anyway , today after his press conference he is flying out on yet another vaction. i have read that with the group that is going this trip will cost the American tax payer $200 million a day. That’s being very fiscally responsiable.

  35. Robert says:

Obvioulsy Nobi is an idiot, becuase he thinks the dems have not been succesful. They have been the preminent party in American politics for a hundred years. Maybe you should not talk out of your ass, and maybe pay attention in history class.

  36. Mark says:

If Dems are so damm smart … Why is it that Corrine Brown keeps getting re-elected? I meen have you ever heard that woman speak and make any sence?

  37. FloridaK says:

That’s just silly, it’s so rare to even find a true Floridian anymore, most of the people here are from somewhere else. So, I don’t know what Leila is talking about. There is no weak or strong side, just people wanting something different and something to change. Those who voted wanted a change and the Republicans put on the best show, nuff said!

  38. Dr Bender says:

Republicans take the majority in Florida, Thank God, the Dems have left most of us broke and hungry. Thank God people with intelligence finally voted, or it would just be more of the same from the Dems.

  39. worried4fla says:

I’m not happy with the election results and frankly I’m worried about Florida now. Scott wants to appeal Obamacare. A system that covers most Americans even with pre-existing conditions. Yeah that is terrible, let’s go with the Republican plan – set yourself up a medical savings acount that is a tax shelter. Save for about 10 years, it might cover 3 or 4 days of a hospitial stay. We’ll continue to let the insurance companies tell us which drugs they will cover regardless of what the doctors prescribe for us. And hey let’s lower taxes even when we don’t have enough tax revenues due to falling property values to run many of florida’s cities – that will help!!! I remember when there was a surplus of funds when Clinton left office, Bush and the war blew that away! Now let’s blame Obama, it’s ALL HIS FAULT!!!

  40. Curious says:

Hey worried4fla, which year did the national debt not increase during the Clinton administration? Yes, both parties were taking credit for something that never happened, but treasuries were being sold every year and there never was a surplus.

  41. al says:

“I remember when there was a surplus of funds when Clinton left office, Bush and the war blew that away! ”
    corrections;
    1. surplus of funds when Clinton left office, was result of republican congress not to Clinton himself
2.Bush and the 911(which happened in part due to Clintons ambivalence to ben laden and his disaster in Somali) blew that away. how soon and how easy you forgot about 911.

  42. aivie says:

In the end we all lose. Get a grip people. We can divide ourselves into these boxes, but we are all still human. I hope we can all get along in the future when all our natural resources are depleted and our children’s children are starving and living in extreme poverty. The Earth runs out you know. Good luck to us all.

  43. Shavager says:

Republicans won because most Floridians are conservatives who support limited govt and free enterprise. DemocRATS are for govt. control and economic slavery. Watch for it, first democorrupt party legilature and Gov. in Fla. will immediately push for a state income tax on citizens ala Buddy McKay and Lawton Chiles syndrome. Crist was a flip flopper who put his own personal self-interest over the citizens, Meeks was a weak candidate with some shady dealings in his background. The best man won, I don’t think Rubio would’ve been defeated even if Meeks dropped out, Rubio had too much support. Time to kick some more democRATS out in ’12 and end the democorrupt party power period!!

  44. imrichbitch says:

Money is your GOD….watch fox news…Money is your GOD…watch fox news…I hate gays…money is your god…guns don’t kill people…work hard and you can be rich…money is your GOD…make sure people see you at church…make sure people know you go to church…watch fox news…shop at Walmart…hate lazy poor people…tell people your not a racist…look both ways when pretending to be racist around real racist people…money is your GOD…vote for republicans…….pray real hard if you have time.

  45. BASEBALL BILL says:

I just love to read the comments left by Liberals. If we could burn Liberal Tears in our gas tanks we wouldn’t need to drill another well or mine for another ounce of coal.

We could export Liberal Tear energy to every one of the so called 3rd World countries for free. I have a better idea lets not export the LIBERAL TEAR Energy lets let them go over to the Communist, Socialist, Dictatorship ran countries and those countries would be able to export Liberal Tear Energy. We would win both ways. #1 We get rid of the Crocodile Tear Liberals #2 They could tell the countries how to run their government.(Which I am sure the powers that be in those countries would love to hear) OH! Yeah there is a #3 Those countries would not need all our Billions and Billions of Foreign Aid. It’s a Win Win situation. I know the United States would be better off, and the 3rd World Countries would have some new targets to shoot at.
