Gran Turismo 5 release date delayed twice this 2010

I know everyone is frustrated with this news, specially the avid fans of Gran Turismo. The release of the highly popular sports car racing for the Sony Playstation 3 had been delayed once more. Sony Playstation 3 blog announced that Gran Turismo 5 release will be delayed further.

Gran Turismo 5 is previously scheduled for a November 2010 release but game developers seems to have find some bugs and game issues which made them decide to delay the release.

Everyone was annoyed including me, because I’m really excited to get a copy of GT5 next month. I hope this is the last delay and the release date will not be moved anymore.

As you all know, GT5 was suppose to be released on March 2010, but Sony Computer Entertainment announced last January 2010 that it will be delayed and the new release date is TBA.

The release date was moved to November 2011 and again it was delayed. The new release date is yet to be announced. Most probably it will be moved to the first or second quarter of 2011.

Here is the official announcement from Sony Playstation as posted at the Sony’s Playstation Blog

We can confirm that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available this November 2nd, but the game’s release will be coming this holiday season.

We sincerely apologize to GT fans for the delay, however, creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches.

We’ll have more information for you in the near future.

No it is a production issue, out of Sony’s hand I’m afraid they missed the deadline for starting production by 3 days will be here Dec 3rd or 8th.

F1 2010 and COD Black Ops should keep me busy in the wait. I’ll have to cancel my rec leave though.

this is a load of bull !! kaz said BEFORE E3 this year that the game is done and could be published, now we are looking at yet another delay to FINETUNE??!! WTF??
this hardly instills confidence and i wonder just what damage this does to Polyphonies credibility, i for one will not believe in this game until i have it in my grubby paws. also just imagine the backlash should there be ANY glitches no matter how minor

  9. DIVAN says:

This is the most fuckedup service any company can give to their supporters, why don’t they just cancel the game and change the company to a shoe company; hopefully they will be able to manage that!!!

I have been really debating and it seems I am just going to buy Xbox 360 and a copy of Forza 3. Im not the only one! I bought the PS3 only for GT5 when it was set to release what, last decade? You want to believe Polyphony, but how many times? You know you are not going to release it so just shut up and work on it, instead of building false hope 10x over.

I’ve been waiting for this as long as anyone else and i’m dissapointed obviously but i’m not annoyed. An Australian advertisement ‘guarantees’ the game’s release before xmas. A few delays is a small price to pay for what will surely be the greatest racing game ever made. Anyone who has given up getting the game can’t be that interested. It will come out when it comes out so stop whining.

  12. Hoodie says:

The delays are related to the new anti-piracy stuff that all new software has had to implement after the start of October and they missed their deadline for production of the blu-ray discs by three days. Not worth getting your knickers in a twist about it as it will still be out before the holiday period.

Sony are banking on this game selling shedloads of consoles. They will not let this drag on into next year.

  13. Guy who is pissed says:

hey I guess I will busy wit Fallout: New Vegas and all the other games that came out ON TIME. Hell next yrs games will keep me busy too. Hey i might as well get Duke Nukem Forever while i am at it.

good things take time. it ticks me off that it was delayed but id rather have a quality product than a cheesy quickly thrown together turd like what some of the other developers do. its called taking pride in your work and if you are too inpatient to wait for gt5 then thats your problem

  18. aris says:

it’s cool as long as they publish something clear and bug-free!

How can some people say this is quickly thrown together? It’s been in development for how many years? I’m now sitting with a fucking PS3 320gb Bundle, a Logitech G27 wheel, and no game. I bought the PS3, and wheel specifically for GT5 this past month. I’ve been racing Forza 2 and Forza 3 for years, and they have been great fun. However my current Xbox wheel is getting tired and after thousands of miles in Forza I’m looking for a change. My love for the WRC and rally caught my attention with GT5, along with the night driving with weather. So I have spent nearly $700 to play one fucking game that now I won’t be playing for who knows how long because this ass clowns can’t get their shit together. I laid out my money because they assured us it would not slip again, and now I’m sitting here with shit i can’t use. That was fine through November 2nd, but another couple of months and I just wasted my money. If the game needed so much time to develop then why even tell the consumre when the game was going to launch? It’s been years of delays, not months. I’d rather have GT5 is coming for the past five years than GT5 is coming in 2007, oops, 2008, oops, 2012, oops, fuck it we are skipping to GT6 which will include Nascar versus F1 mode?!?!

Many have made investments based on these false claims, and to me that’s just a slap in the face to the people who make phonybalony a viable company. GT5 better wipe my ass for me and make me dinner, along depositing money into my checking account for every mile I drive! For those who want to drive and have fun, Forza 3 is a great game.

I’m not sure I’ll b getting gt5 now. Been delayed way to long. Why not release and use updates to fix MINOR bugs. Better not b any bugs. They’ve had way too long to program this. Release gt5. I’ve been looking forward to this game forever. Goes to next year then just fuk it.

  21. Dante says:

By the time they get this game released, the PS4 will be out!!!!!

Seriously though, says the release date is now 12/31/10

  22. badboi8169 says:

alan jones the reaso why need for speed release there games on time is because since need for speed underground they have all been shit!! this will b amazing and will top any racing game out there!!

  23. Polyphony Spokesman says:

The game should be here soon.

Rumor has it the delay is just due to the addition of motorcycles, intercontinental jetliners, submarines, cargo ships, bicycles, quads, snowboards, helicopters and a cross continent railroad. They are also having trouble accurately modeling the Magic Carpet as Aladdin is reluctant to grant them access to the only existing Magic Carpet in the universe.

Don’t worry folks, the game will be out just about the time when we’ve stopped using automobiles as our primary means of transportation and televisions are capable of broadcasting the 5D. See the catchy title… “GT5 in 5D” doesn’t get better than that.

  24. Killmore says:

To those who are telling people to chillax over the delay, you seem to be missing the fact that many folks have pre-paid for the title. From a customer perspective, that’s definitely grounds for complaint. Some other folks bought the console just to play this prestigious game along with game enhancing peripherals, granted that this is not Poly’s fault but, still there was an expectation of delivery. I wouldn’t be happy either.

In my case, I own the original PS3 and it has high mileage. I am not sure now if it will last long enough to get a complete experience with GT5, even if does release this Xmas; I would hate to be half way through the game and have my console crap out. I certainly will not be buying a second console and given that there is no warranty remaining, I wouldn’t be getting it fixed either.

As for the delays themselves, from my understanding the first delay was the addition of 3D support, which in my view is really just a gimmick add-on; I doubt there will be a really huge market for the current 3d tvs (over a 1000$ in 3D glasses so my whole family can enjoy 3D? No thank you). The second delay, from what I’ve read so far, seems to have been caused by a missed manufacturing deadline. If this was the case, it’s really disappointing to see poor management in such a huge operation.

I have always voiced concern over titles that are rushed out the door in a “release now, fix later” fashion and appreciate Poly’s efforts at perfecting the game. But I am sure the game is polished to beyond customer’s expectations (it certainly should be, they have eternity to make it!) there is no need for this latest delay.

I dont understand why they can’t do as EA did with NFS Shift. Ie. Release the game and then provide downloadible updates. I work in IVD Systems Development and I can say that if we sat around fixing every bug we found we’d NEVER launch anything. Its just a conscientious decision to release a usable product to the market and then provide a Service Pack.

Really, this whole bug story is shady. Bugs in the systems I’ve worked on can be fixed in a period of a week. This is just a video game. It doesnt run on a server, doesnt communicate automatically over a local network, doesnt analyze bioinformatics data, and all the software development is done in house. That just means that something else is going on.

Then, as regards the above comment concerning missed manufacturing deadline. That just means that design output was late. That means that PP didnt finish development. So, it is impossible, if development isnt finished, to predict when the game will ever come out. Also, whenever manufacturing is started it should just be quick. I was working on a project recently. We finished development and had our manufactured system software within a business week from the decision to manufacture. And thats considering we didnt do the software development in house, it was done in Germany, and the manufacturing was done in New Jersey.

The 3D thing is whack. Like no one has 3D tvs. Honestly, why does PP need to introduce that for? Thats something that can just be downloaded. Its an unnecessary business investment I bet. In software development, sometimes things get held up because the business division wants the software to do things to enhance the product’s market appeal. Now thats well and good but investing all this extra time at the cost of consumer frustration in order to introduce an accessory the not more than 5% of the consumers will use is simply dumb.

So, two things: something shady is going on at PP and PP’s business team is a bunch of dummies.

I was very disappointment with the delay in November.
It just blows my mind that Sony can’t come out with a game that should of been released years ago. At this point I don’t want to get the game anymore and I am sure that a lot of gamers feel the same. ” That is all I have to say about that!”

Gran turismo is the best auto game! I have noticed that it’s requiring more and more driving skills to play!
