Still No Tier 5 Unemployment Extension for 99ers: Vote Out Democrats? – Barely a month from now, Americans will vote once again for the US Congress on November 2. The existing unemployment extension, HR 4213, signed last July by President Obama is also set to expire on November 30 and still no Tier 5 unemployment extension bill was passed in the Congress.
Although Debbie Stabenow, a Democrat from Michigan, proposed the “Americans Want To Work Act” or the S3706, the said Tier 5 unemployment extension bill is being blocked by Republicans most recently by George LeMeiux on an argument that it will just be an added burden to the already growing US budget deficit.
Last October 2, 99ers had their second rally for a Tier 5 unemployment extension bill at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC. Organized by One Nation Working Together, the rally called “One Nation March” attracted some 200,000 people according to some estimates. The first rally last August did not do anything to give way for the passage of the bill. Will this second rally be heard by the Congress’ deaf ears?
It seems that the only thing left now is to wait for the November 2 elections and vote out the Republicans. The Tier 5 unemployment extension benefits bill S.3706 Americans Want to Work Act is paramount to turning the country’s situation around. Instead of giving priority to some bills which require less attention from the American voting public, why not pass the bill and let honest American workers head back to work? Be sure to cast your vote and let your voices be heard.

That’s right, vote all the republicans out! They think by ignoring then blocking tier V they’re getting their way when in reality they’re gonna say ba-bye to more senate seats. I am lucky I finally found a job in a state that has a 10.5% unemployment rate. I am making less than what I recieved with unemployment but I feel better working. I think we all need to remember these people at the poles! Stop sending money to everyone else and help AMERICANS and you may keep your job with your silver spoon in you mouth!

I have moved to Florida in hope of a better economy and job butafter going out daily yes every day and putting in applications and sending at least 10 resumes out each day the only position I was offered was 4 hours a week for minimum wage. I am supporting my son on this please explain what and how I do this w/out becoming homeless?

Republicans want to get rid of unemployment benefits, social security, medical, food stamps, veterans benefits, and give more tax breaks to the filthy rich while the rest of Americans STARVE!!! ok, where to begin….the same old bullshit, over and over and over…I have been working since I was 13. I have been everything from retail clerk, manager, director, vice president….I am really good at what I do. love to work, have a great reputation and was laid off 2 and a half years ago and have spent almost every day sending resumes, calling people, networking, going to visit businesses and every conceivable thing to try to get a new job…well, I am sad to report that here in New York City, things have not changed very much…most places still are not hiring…and they don;t know if and when they will again…I will travel as much as 100 plus miles in any direction and I still can’t find a job, or an interview, or anything….hardly ANY money is left from our savings, 401k, NOTHING LEFT after all this time, the house will be next and the car etc. etc. etc…and all of this time BILLIONS of dollars are going overseas to other countries while we suffer here, and all we do is watch these disgusting politicians continue to be arrested on charges of taking graft and being corrupt..they have great jobs where all they do is care about what they can get for themselves, the hell with everyone else, especially us, the 99ers who have had the misfortune of being the first group to be laid off, through no fault of their own, just this lousy economy…the new AMERICAN dream seems to be who can steal the most and get the most for themselves, and not their constituents….well good luck to all of us, I don’t think there will ever be a tier 5 or any other extensions for anyone…no one cares if we, get sick as hell, we starve, we die or anything else…no one cares and no one in power will ever care….get rid of ALL of the incumbents and PRAY that the new ones might be better, even though I highly doubt it….goood luck to all of us if we dont die soon…oh and just to mention, my wife also got laid off about a year ago after working for the same company for 28 years….what more can I say…it is soooooo frustrating and demeaning I cant go on anymore…thanks for listening

When are you fools going to realize that Democrats do not support extending unemployment past 99 weeks? Democrats have said no to unemployment and will only extend the filing deadline for current tiers of unemployment.
Democrats lied to Americans before. They were supposed to pass Tier 5 after HR.4213 was passed yet they didn’t. Now, they are playing games with SB.3706. Democrats are now saying that they won’t pass Tier 5 until after current tiers are extended.
The reason why they won’t merge the Tier extensions with Tier 5 is because the Democrats don’t want to extend the weeks for unemployment. If Tier 5 doesn’t get passed before November 2nd, it will be too late to save our economy …
For the sake of our children I wish I could vote for George LeMeiux. Adding more unemployment benefits does not help the situation. If you can find work in 99weeks your not going to with a few more weeks. Instead of free money Stabenow should be pushing more government work projects. So that people can get to work. Although there are many people that will try to vote out those who are blocking tier 5. My guess there are alot more like me who will be voting out hose pushing more benefits. I am all for helping people that want to work. For the sake of our childrens future create jobs, dont print money.

A tier-5 unemployment emergency extension will not be passed by the government because they are so out of touch of how citizens are really coping with no jobs. Here we have a country with a 9.6% unemployment rate and millions of 99’er who are sinking daily into the poverty line which is currently 44 million people. We did everything we can to make our voices heard and the people that we put in office to work for us have turned their backs on us because we are not on the high level scale. Those who complaint about excessive government spending usually target programs like unemployment insurance and food stamps but never talk about programs that benefit the wealthy or employees with top government jobs who constantly cheats the system while lining their pockets with salaries off taxpayer-funded. There are also Pentagon spending that is never discussed or put on the table from them. I hate this time of year most and a this year especially. Because I am that much in the hole and everything I worked for all my life is going down the toilet without the tissue. After believing, hoping, praying, pleading for some type of relief I finally came to the conclusion that they simply want us to go away. Drop dead from the stress, commit suicide from the agony, leave the country: Anything just so they do not have to face us. Right now suicide hotlines are ringing off the hooks!! I lost an old friend. She could not face living on the streets or being a burden to anyone so she took a bottle of anti depressants and sleep medication and called it quits. That’s what they want, because we have served our purpose and should just quietly go away.
There was never suppose to be a major gap between the rich and the middle class. But now, the middles class is being eliminated because many middle class Americans have become a part of the poor working class. Now the gap between the rich and poor is the largest it has ever been. When ever there is a major gap between the rich and poor beware! The government is hoping we all dry and blow away-Not only is there no tier 5, but today the government announced for the 2nd year in a row there will be no increase for social security recipients–of course this leaves more money for the congress to give themselves another raise–they dont and wont care about us. I have been unemployed for 2 years ++ Iwas laid off in july 2008 after 46 years of work at age 62 – my house has been foreclosed on, I have no health insurance i have a daughter still in school and no way help her out–I get food handouts at my local veteran center. I try to help out my father who is 86 but I cant and now he won’t get any increase for the 2nd year in a row he is on a fixed income of social security and prices keep going up..I cant figure out what the people who run this country are expectong to do with all the people who are going into poverty and that statistic is still growing.. Good luck to all other 99ers and the rest of the struggling population. I am discouraged and disappointed and outraged at our elected officials. They should be ashamed but they are not
I am truly discussed with this situation. I have worked for 34 years in the same company and i got layed off because things got slow. I now have lost all my benefits I am amoung the 99er’s now. Does anyone in Congress care that more and more people are becoming 99 weekers. Sooner or later all of america will be 99 weekers. The only ones left will be the ones with jobs, and maybe not even them. No one is secure in their job now. It is a toss up to see how long you can keep your job. Well I feel that Democrates love to spend money but on what I have not idea. The Republicans hate to spend money on anything, so who do we vote for?? I feel that no matter what we do we are in for a very very bad time. So all I can say is God help us all. Because if not, we are all going to starve to death and become homeless, and sick and die. My family have been part of the “if your not working, your not looking” crowd ever since I was laid-off 2+ years ago. I warned them, ‘don’t get too comfy in that aerospace job, they are going to be cutting most employees out across the board. Prepare, don’t get stuck and don’t trust’. Well, they poo-pooed me, being a lazy bum and all–not like I worked in aerospace with government insiders or anything. My uncle has seniority, he’s close to retirement, they love him, he’s so valuable and now, as of last week, unceremoniously sent packing! When they told me, I heard all of the “excuses” come from their mouths as to why he hadn’t found a new job within this past week:He’s overqualified, they’re not hiring the “grey-haired crowd”, you’re not ‘mexican’ enough, we-don’t-care-we-just-want-to-pay-our-bills-we’ll-take-anything, all of the current vernacular for “there just ain’t any jobs”. I just can’t feel sorry for the “Glenn Beck worshippers” once they get their turn and join us down here at the bottom of the barrel. None of my family has so much as offered me shelter since being made homeless by all of this, and now they want sympathy from me? I warned them.
